Making things better means we want to make a difference to our clients, enhance our own experience, and make the working world work in better ways. It needs hard discipline to get it right, and we need to work with organisatios that contribute to building a better working world directly at the global, regional and local level.

In 1986 we set up the Entrepreneur Of The Year. Today, the program covers more than 50 countries and celebrates successful entrepreneurs, giving them the recognition they deserve. And it’s just one of the many ways we support entrepreneurs.

For example, a major strategy of our Africa team is on bolstering woman in the workforce - a fundamental factor in the region’s growth strategy. The publication of Women of Africa by EY in November 2011 highlighted the great untapped economic force that this group represents. EY’s involvement in the Third Billion global campaign, which unites governments, NGOs, corporations and others, helps to ensure women's access to legal protection, education and training, finance and markets.

Our support for educational programmes spans the globe, from primary through to university education. For example, we help children in India read their first books and, in many places, we help young men and women become the first university graduates in their families. They are the future market for all sort of businesses, and we and are clients need to nurture them as a strategic goal as well as a human one.
